M. Night Shyamalan should be banned

M. Night Shyamalame? M. Night Shyamalan has made a lot of movies in the recent years and none of them have been highly rated or spur the urge to watch it more than once…. What happened to him? If you recall his greats back in the day like “The 6th Sense,” “UNBREAKABLE,” and “Signs” they had all the aspects of a great suspense thriller with a tint of horror. These movies elevated him as a renowned director however the most recent films he’s produced haven’t been of the same quality leading some to believe his first films were the only tricks in his hat.

His most recent films have been real tragedies….”Devil” proved to be a big disappointment to most that watched it. Other than its religious overtones the storyline relied on too many coincidences in a predictable plot. Same could be said for “The Village,” which created anticipation of a pilgrim type society harassed by monsters living in the surrounding woods. However this turned out not to be the case as they were just a bunch of grief driven people protecting their children from the real world through fear and fairytales. Did he even put in effort to these scripts or was he just trying to make a “twist” into a movie?

His best skill turns out to be creating an atmosphere that’s eerie and pulls you in but then kills it with some fairytale scenario that always goes for some type of happy ending. Most of his films feel like they’re screaming to be normal horror movies and not some enlightening life changing experience.

With how high movie prices are nowadays, everyone is more selective of what movies to spend their hard earned money on no one’s going to want to waste money on another Shyamalan flop. If his career plan is just to spew out mother goose tales for an older audience than I believe that he should retire and stop wasting our time.
